Apple Trouble has been a fave of Zorro's for a few weeks now. So I decided that we would do some CRAFTivities based on this book.
Just a note: Anything with toothpicks will probably be a hit for your toddler too. :)
We had snack and lunch with bite sized sandwiches and apples with a little caramel sauce.
I cut everything up nice and tiny and let Zorro put a tooth pick in each piece. He ate off the toothpicks and also used them for dipping his apples. He LOVED it!
We made this porcupine/hedgehog.
I could have been a lot more creative about esthetics but as Zorro gets older and can do more and make more decisions, I have been making them more simple so he has the majority of control over how HIS craft will turn out with little to no help from me. TOOLS:
- Styrofoam Ball about the size of a baseball (cut in half)
- Paint (Z chose blue)
- Paintbrush
- Glue
- Googly eyes
- Toothpicks
- An apple if you want
- Cut Styrofoam ball in half
- Paint
- Let dry for a few hours
- Poke in the toothpicks
- Glue on the googly eyes
- Top with an apple
Zorro really loved this. Again, it was because of the toothpicks. He even reenacted part of the book by placing the apple on top then trying to eat it like one of the characters in it.
*Zorro is 2 Years, 11 Months*

3 JUICY LOVE NOTES:
Cute craft - I can totally see how my daughter loves everything involving sharp objects :)
Oh that is so neat. Zorro is so lucky you do these cool things with him. He is so attentive too.
I think this is something my girls would like.
Great ideas with Apples...your lil guy always looks like he enjoys your activities so much! We have not read that book yet...Ill check it out next time we are at the bookstore :)
