It's Mommy to you!

I have a rule...ok not a RULE but like an unspoken expectation that my baby is only supposed to call me mommy. No "mom" here, just mommy.

It irks me no end when people say, "ask your mom" or "mom...fill in the blank." I will likely correct you every time, at the risk of sounding like a raving mad woman. Really, I will.

My baby has started picking it up and often calls me "mom" now and I HATE it! I try to breathe, get past it, and not correct him every time. But it's oh so sad for me to not hear mommy.

So seriously get over it Kristi, right?

WRONG! It's my BABY! I want to be his mommy as long as I possibly can. Think about it... We are only the focus of our children's lives for such a tiny period of their lives. I want to stretch it out as long as I can.

Mommy sounds innocent and like he needs me. Mom sounds like he's parting ways and becoming independent.

He's 3. Call me mom at 30. hee hee

I get it, I have issues. I'm under no illusions there. My poor guy will probably have to go to therapy for this but hey... we have kids to fill holes in our lives right? JUST KIDDING!

Maybe I will strike up a deal with him. He can call me mom when he can cook and clean for me. -OK now I'm starting to sound more like Mommy Dearest.

Happy MOMMY's Day!

Now the one that drives me crazy is when waiters and the like, or my MOM call me "Mama," my kids don't even call me that, so why would I want you doing it?
I'm trying to think if they've actually switched over to Mom or are still saying Mommy. I think mostly Mommy, and I still call my Mom Mommy.

You're so funny! I'll call you mommy-0-la as long as you need it. You have raised a very sweet little boy who loves and needs you to no end. He will always need you even when he's 30. You are a fantastic mom and I'm so excited I get to spend part of mothers day with you! Love you!

My mommy is still either mommy or momma to me. And I'm 21. Guess I'll never grow out of it!

I am right there with you! I do not like when my daughter calls me "mom". It sounds too grown-up. I want to be her "mommy" forever. And she better never think about EVER calling me by my first name.

Happy Mother's Day!

I'm with you...only for me it's Mama. My boys have always called me Mama and I know it will break my heart when they start the mom stuff. Happy Mommy's Day! :)

I totally agree. Until Lydia is 10 it's Mommy. None of this "Mama" stuff after 18 months old. It is a little too "southern" for this western mommy.

Dang, your blog is fun. :)

I told Ryan just the other day that I hope my kids keep calling me "Momma" for the rest of their lives. For some reason, I don't think the boys ever said, "Mommy," but my daughter changes between "Momma" and "Mommy."
