This week at ABC & 123 the Picnic talk is all about the ABC's.
We haven't done a FULL alphabet theme yet where we focus on all the letters. Right now we are taking them one at a time. Each week we focus on a letter and letter related theme. We are Currently at letter F, although I have only posted up through D. I like to stay a few weeks ahead of the game in case we fall behind. Once we finish each letter we will do a full alphabet theme.
Zorro's not too keen on learning the alphabet and I don't push it. I just focus on the theme for the week, we watch Starfall.com (he loves that!) and review letters up to the letter of the week several times a week. I try to expose him to letters by playing games etc that involve alphabet like the bottle top game that Carisa made up and puzzles as well as fridge magnets.
Here's links to our ABC "stuff"
I'd like to add to our activies so I look forward to seeing what other people do/use!
Sorry this is kind of a lame post but I am short on time and I didn't want to miss out on the discussion. ;)
11 JUICY LOVE NOTES:
it is not lame at all! i always enjoy reading your blog! i am so glad that you are posting your theme box ideas... they are so adorable and they look like they are fun for Zorro (and isn't that what it's all about for these little ones?)
BTW- i would totally make the drive out Biggest Loser/dessert parties. i am such a treat junkie- you would think that the biggest loser habits would start to rub off on me by now!
that wasn't lame!! so i TAGGED you!! come on over to my blog and see... you're it! i looove your blog =)
I forgot about magnet letters! We do those all the time.
Thanks for joining us! It's totally not lame. I think you're smart not to push the learning the alphabet business if your little guy really isn't in to it yet. Don't want him to hate it by the time he is ready! I think ABC magnet letters are a must have a home on every fridge:)
I added your awesome Dinosaur theme box to tomorrow's Letter D post. I hope that will be okay with you. Let me know if you'd prefer not to have us share it. Such a great resource you've put together!
I LOVE, LOVE your theme boxes. We are so going to start doing these. I usually have everything together before we start a theme, and the kids come into the room with all the books set up on the table - which is how they find out what theme we're doing. But I'm going to start using the box with all the crafts in the bags, etc. like you did. Fun! (I think I probably already commented about this when I've been on your blog before, but I love your title banner.)
I love your theme boxes!
I love your theme box idea! I also love Starfall, and use it with my kids at home. You have so many fun ideas, thanks for sharing!
Hey I haven't really done alphabet themes yet either, and probably won't really. They all know the general alphabet, they just don't know how to write. We'll get to it eventually.
And what's with the 7 posts on the day I'm sick? How am I supposed to keep up with that :)?
Your son is the perfect age to check out Bebmbo's Zoo online. You click on a letter and letters in the word pop up on the screen to create an animal that starts with that sound. So for monkey all the letters in the word monkey pop onto the screen, split and divide while moving around to connect again to form a monkey. Pretty cute.

I am in awe of your themed boxes! It's nice to hear that Zorro isn't too into the whole letter thing, neither is mine! She likes all the activities but not when we focus on the actual letter. Just not ready, but we have lots of fun in the meantime!
PS: Thanks for your emails RE help with the blog. I am so going to take you up on it!
