CRAFTivities- Spaceship

SPACESHIP

Zorro specifically asked for a spaceship craft so I came up with this. It turned out cooler than I imagined it would.

I will try and add some better photos for how to cut the cardboard. It's very simple but if your visual you may need to see it.

TOOLS:
  • Water Bottle
  • Tin Foil
  • Cardboard
  • Paint
  • Tape
  • Container for paint
  • Paint Brush

MAKE IT A CRAFT KIT
(Eliminate time consuming steps so you can spend more time with your LO)
  • Gather tools
  • Cut cardboard into rectangle then cut in at a diagonal on both sides (click on first photo in series and you can see what the cardboard looks like)
  • Cut another piece from cardboard in a triangle with one side slightly longer.
  • Place gallon Ziploc bag Except for paper
Now it's ready to go when you are!

STEPS:

  • Tape the rectangular piece of cardboard on bottom on of the bottle with the diagonal cuts facing the top of the bottle.

  • Tape triangular piece of cardboard to top other side of the water bottle (on top if bottle is on it's side) with the longer side of the triangle facing up to the lid of the bottle.
  • Wrap every part of the bottle & cardboard with strips of foil. If you have a younger child you will likely have to smooth it out for them when they are done wrapping themselves.
  • Now you have a nifty little spaceship! You can be done if you want but if you have a little artist they may want to paint it....
  • This one wanted a yellow spaceship. I mixed yellow tempura paint with water and a bit of craft glue with the hopes that it would thin out the paint and also make some loose edges stick. Um... Who knows if it actually worked. I still see edges but the paint looks cool.
  • Now you can be done OR your LO might want to bedazzle it with stickers and such.

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about!
